But to answer this question, we first need to tell a story.

Many moons ago, a friendly X-Ray Tech named Cory was at work doing what he always did with a smile: help people. No matter how trivial the task, Cory found a way to connect with his patients to make the sometimes scary visit under an X-Ray machine, a pleasant one.

Each day, another patient would come in to see him, and he’d use his expertise to run the tests and help them find the answers they were looking for. He did this so often that one day he began to admire the rays from this machine. You might say he noticed how they’d flow.

Day by day, one happy patient after another, more and more flow. He daydreamed about the flow, he’d see himself riding the flow in his sleep.

One fateful evening, the might of the flow began to consume his every thought. It drove his mind to learn about coding and with it, the power to harness the flow and build websites. His hunger to wield this power pushed him to consume tutorials and courses to learn how to construct interesting websites by hand.

But, often he felt like something was missing. Most of his time was spent debugging the many lines of code he wrote, and it wasn’t as fun as it should be.

Cory stared and stared at the code. He knew he was close to truly harnessing the power of manipulating the DOM.
